"This won't change our way of life". So said manic grinning Tony Blair after 9/11. His government then proceeded to pass law after law in order to limit our civil liberties, far more in fact than any government has ever done. Surveilance cameras everywhere, ludicrous security measures put in place at airports creating irritating delays and inconvenience. Any self respecting suicide bomber only hs to walk into the check in and trigger their device to cause far more damage than would be done on a plane.( Don't give them the media coverage I say....deny them their story and they'll soon fade away.) Meanwhile DNA data bases on us all are still being considerded as I'm sure is an identity card. Big Brother is upon us, amongst us and gaining more and more control.
So I'm not surprised that after the "near miss" of a mad bomber on a US flight, the government now want to put into place even more stringient surveilience and security measures, which will include the very intrusive "body" scans. This of course will mean even more delays as we proceed through the undignified rat run of checking in for our flights. I remember when flying used to be quite a civilised and sophisticated mode of travel. Now we get packed into metal tubes three abreast, not dissimilar to the way African slaves were packed on board ships to be taken accros the Atlantic. I digress.
Then I read that the government now wants to add a further tax to the infuriating "Fixed Penalty" fines. 15 pounds a time...the idea that the money will go to help victims... What. explain that one!. and how will this be monitored I wonder. Just another example of a panic striken governmnet desperate to raise funds to try and shore up a sinking economy. They are willing to tax us wherever possible to claw back all the monies lost in the current disasterous economic climate of their own making. So why not pick on the car user yet again? Vat back up. Fuel costs soaring again, and all the "Global Warming"taxes to come.....I guess what I'm trying to say is....it might be a new year....but it looks like the same old lousy mess to me..and it's not getting better under Labour...it's always getting worse. This country, with it's liberalisation is rapidly going down the tubes. Soon as we can get rid of this lot the better. My life was so much better before they took control, and I had a lot more freedom.
